The Bible Recap Day 32
The Bible Recap Day 32
Exodus 7-9
God Shot: He Knows
The Omniscience of God. I found this simplistic definition; “For God to be omniscient means that God knows everything. God knows all things, including future events and all contingencies (possibilities). He knows what will happen and what would have happened, had people made different choices. He knows the consequences of all possible choices or events.”
When I read in scripture that “God hardened Pharaohs heart” I hear that he knew that Pharaohs heart was not going to change. God knew that Pharaoh was going to give problems to Moses as he tried to free his people. It should not be a shock. We know all that Pharaoh was using the Israelites as slave labor and he did not want to lose his labor force. God was not shocked by this and I am so glad that he warned Moses about it. God continued to tell him, “hey man, Pharaoh is going to say one thing and then he is going to change his mind. It is going to cause some major problems in your life. You need to know this ahead of time so you don’t think you were doing it wrong. I want you to know that I know what he is going to do and I just need you to work with me on this.”
Now, I am sure that is not the way the conversation went down but this is how I am able to wrap my head around this passage of scripture. My God shot for the day is that I need to remember that God is Omniscient and he knows what is going to happen. He told me that he knew and I need to remember that he is going to take care of me. That does not mean that I need to go out and intentionally tank my life but I do need to remember that when God asks me to do do something he already knows the flaws that I have and he has that built into he plan.
BUT!!!!!! And this is s big but. One of the biggest struggles in my Christian life has been know what it is that God wants me to do. One of the reasons that I have stared writing out my observations is because I needed some way to hold myself accountable to reading scripture and talking to him every day. Since I started doing this I have found that I don’t necessarily hear him say anything about where to go and what to do but he has helped calm my mind, ease my anxiety and, find peace in him... so i think that is a great step in the right direction. Because I may never hear him “speaking to me” but I can find peace about where I am going and what I am doing.
I am absolutely going to have to do some more research on the whole “God Hardedned Pharaohs heart.” I want to understand that part better but today I wanted to give my God shot as I felt it not as I researched it.
